Teapots

Introduce ‘Silver of the Stars’ at group time

Have a ‘Talking Tub’ with different teapots, images, teabags, tea leaves, tea cosy etc to inspire conversation. Create mind-map with children’s ideas

Have different tea pots in the water tray to explore volume – ‘How many cups can you fill with each pot?’

Tea set exploration and designing

Children draw tea set/s (real and printed pictures from website of SotS collection and others).

Discuss similarities and differences of the tea sets, lookingat detail, shape, colour, weight and textures.

Kick start creative learning

Explore first hand a collection of vessels including cups, jugs, teapots etc.

Sensory silver

On our visit to the Silver of the stars collection pupils were unable to touch the pieces but I enabled individuals to communicate preferences by laying cardboard silver stars on the table beside their favourites.  We also took silver foil to shape and hold, thus keeping everyone’s hands busy!
